Two Fragrant + Natural Skincare Recipes to Keep You Glowing

Two Fragrant + Natural Skincare Recipes to Keep You Glowing

What you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body. Your skin absorbs everything you scrub, spritz, rub, lather, and leave on it, so skip the bottle with a million unpronounceable ingredients and treat yourself to one of these quick, fragrant beauty blends. We've teamed up with Sister & Co's natural skincare range to bring you two vibrant recipes crafted with whole ingredients straight from nature.

JASMINE HAIR PERFUME

IMG_7708 (1).JPG

Try making this simple hair spritz for one of the classic floral scents of summer. It will perfume your hair without drying it out - in fact, the jojoba oil will add a light touch of moisture. And as essential oils are so potent, you will only need to spray a small amount to keep your hair gently scented all day. It can double up as a room spray too.

Ingredients
Makes enough to fill 1 x 100ml atomiser/spritz bottle

100ml water

1 tsp jojoba oil

5 drops jasmine oil (or ylang ylang as an alternative)

How to make: Blend the jojoba oil with the jasmine essential oil. Fill your bottle with water and add the oil mixture, shaking well. Shake before every use so that the oil and water mix, as they will naturally separate.

How to use:
Just mist a few sprays on damp hair after washing and gently massage into your hair and scalp. The spritz can also be used on dry hair but we recommend spritzing a hairbrush and brushing through rather than applying straight to hair – you might dampen your hair too much if you spray direct.

This will store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

POMEGRANATE BASIL BODY SCRUB

IMG_3429.jpg

This scrub is a gorgeous vibrant pink - perfect for summer! The scrub combines coconut oil to moisturise and sugar to exfoliate with fresh basil and lime oil to energise and uplift. Pomegranate seeds give it a powerful dose of minerals and vitamins – they contain potassium, copper, zinc and iron, and vitamins K and C as well as ellagic acid, an antioxidant that is believed to help reduce collagen breakdown

Use white sugar to keep this scrub a pinky colour, but you can also use soft brown sugar or coconut sugar if you prefer.

Ingredients:

Makes enough for a couple of uses

4 tbsp white sugar, caster or granulated

2 tbsp coconut oil

2 tbsp fresh pomegranate seeds

A small handful finely chopped fresh basil leaves

Up to 15 drops lime essential oil or essential oil of your choice

All you need to do:
Blend the essential oils if using with the coconut oil then combine all the ingredients together in a small bowl. If your coconut oil is solid, don’t melt it down first, as this will melt the sugar – just mix firmly with a spoon (you will find it softens easily). You can use like this, or if you want a creamier texture, whizz in the blender for 10-15 seconds until combined but the mint leaves remain a bit grainy. Transfer to an airtight container.

How to use:
Scoop out a portion of the scrub using a spoon, not damp hands, as any water that enters the container can introduce bacteria. On damp skin in the shower, exfoliate in circular motions and rinse. There will be no need to follow with moisturiser as your skin will feel nourished and hydrated from the coconut oil.
Use immediately or will keep for up to 4 days in the fridge.
